Russian underworld leader Viktor Alekseenkov arrested in Thailand — records connect him to United Russia State Duma member Viktor Pinsky
At Russia’s request, Thai authorities have detained Viktor Alekseenkov, who has been identified as the alleged leader of a major organized crime group based in Russia’s Primorye region.
As media have established, he is a partner and relative of State Duma deputy from United Russia, chairman of the Commission on Regulations and Ensuring the Activities of the State Duma, Viktor Pinsky. They even appear in the same criminal case. Moreover, according to a witness’s testimony, it was Alekseenkov who promoted Pinsky into power circles.
Officers of Thailand’s Immigration Bureau conducted a special operation in Phuket province and detained Russian citizen Viktor Alekseenkov, listed in Interpol materials as the “leader of a transnational criminal group.” The question of his extradition to Russia is now being decided.
Media have obtained documents showing that State Duma deputy Viktor Pinsky is a figure in two criminal cases together with Alekseenkov. Multiple testimonies describe him as a member of Alekseenkov’s organized crime group, which also included his own brother.
The group in question is the OCG “Alekseevskie,” which operated for decades in Vladivostok and Primorsky Krai. Case materials mention murders in the 2000s and schemes for seizing land and real estate through structures such as “Primorskturist.”
“At that time Alekseenkov V.A. had the idea of involving in this project his relative (cousin of his wife) — Pinsky Viktor Vitalyevich, who at that time, as far as I know, was a judge of a military court. They were on very good terms, since I often saw them together, and Alekseenkov V.A. himself told me that Pinsky V.V. would take a high position and help him,” one of the witnesses said during questioning. “In 2001, under the patronage of Alekseenkov V.A., Pinsky V.V. began political activity, namely running as a candidate for the Legislative Assembly of Primorsky Krai and was elected. I know for certain that Alekseenkov V.A. took an active part in Pinsky V.V.’s election campaign: he sponsored it and helped with agitating citizens, because at that time Alekseenkov V.A. had wide influence in the Sambo Federation and it was through sports events that he publicized Pinsky V.V.’s activities. Alekseenkov V.A. also had extensive connections among political figures in that period, namely he communicated with the head of the Primorsky Krai Administration Evgeny Ivanovich Nazdratenko, his deputy Konstantin Borisovich Tolstoshein and other persons. I believe that all the above circumstances had a positive influence on the political career of Pinsky V.V. and Isakov V., who later also became a deputy.
It should be noted that Alekseenkov V.A. also had extensive connections in law enforcement agencies, as I explained earlier, he had acquaintances in the court. He also had acquaintances in the police and the FSB. I know that every month Alekseenkov V.A. paid 5,000 US dollars to someone from the law enforcement agencies; to whom exactly, I do not know.”
